London
Victoria is dominated by the railway station. Trains from here connect
London to most of south east England, south of the River Thames -
including Gatwick Airport.
As well as being a major railway terminus it also has the main (only)
coach stations in London which service most parts of the UK with some
European Services.
London Victoria is also the first glimpse of central London for many
visitors including those from Stansted using the Terravision and National
Express airport buses. |

Station
Area
As city
centre railway stations go, the area around Victoria Station is quite
good. In front of the station is a dedicated bus station with services
radiating to most places in the capital.
Like all stations there is a multitude of restaurants, fast food,
coffee shops, pubs and bars servicing the needs of travellers here.
There is a small park just west of the bus terminus.
There are also two of London's main theatres next to the station,
the Victoria Palace Theatre and the Apollo Theatre. |
Shops
Victoria
Street, the main road running east from the station to Westminster
has many general shops lining it, servicing a large local office population,
including a large Army & Navy department store.
Down the side of the station along Wilton Road there are lots of smaller
shops serving the local community, including a very large Sainsburys
supermarket. You can get most things you will need here. |
There
are 2 coach stations at London Victoria, plus a bus station for the
local red London buses.
Victoria Coach Station itself is monopolised by National Express services.
The Green Line Coach Station opposite is more varied with Green Line,
Megabus and Terrravision coaches predominant. Long distance European
services leave from both terminals, (though Eurolines go from Victoria
Coach Station)

Both
Victoria Coach Station and the Green Line Coach Station are south
of Victoria Rail and Underground Station, about a 5 minute walk.
The number 11 bus runs down Buckingham Palace Road past both coach
stations. Both
coach stations have a comprehensive range of restaurants, toilets
and snack bars. In Victoria Coach Station is a good left luggage office
with rates by the hour as well as the day. |

Public
Transport & Visitor Attractions
Victoria
is a great transport hub for getting around London. There are 3 underground
lines and countless buses radiating out to all parts of Central London.
About 500m north of Victoria Station is Buckingham Palace and one
of London's nicest royal parks, St James Park. You can walk through
the park to Westminster where the Houses of Parliament, London Eye
and Westminster Abbey are as well as Trafalgar Square on the doorstep
of London's West End theatre and entertainment district. |
