The
area around Stansted is surprisingly rural with few towns. Accordingly
local bus services are restricted.
A handful of routes link the neighbouring towns. Apart from services
into the nearest town, Bishop Stortford frequencies are at best hourly. |

The
bus station is a dedicated resource situated in front of the passenger
terminal at Stansted. After exiting customs go down the escalators,
(also signposted for the train station) and turn left into the bus
station at the first level.
Each bus route has a dedicated bay, signposted with route number.
By far the busiest bays are for the National Express and Terravision
coach services into London and beyond. Give yourself a few minutes
to find the bay for your bus.
There is a small ticket office (but not for local buses) and a small
waiting room. |

Stansted-Bishops Stortford
The
most frequent local bus services operated to Bishop Stortford, the
only town of any size near Stansted Airport.
The small 308/309 buses run every 30 minutes between about 05:30 and
22:30. Monday to Saturday.
The Arriva 510 and 700 routes also run at a lesser frequency, providing
at least an hourly service on Sunday. |

First
Bus run a couple of useful cross country services, very useful if
your destination is in Essex or Anglia.
The services cut out the need for a tedious and expensive journey
into London for those living east of the airport.
Colchester has good local
train services to Anglia.
