services to Stansted Airport are gradually expanding as passenger
numbers increase. The Stansted
Express, London shuttle service still dominates but other routes
are now becoming established.
If your destination is not London there are alternatives which may
be more appropriate that avoid the tedious interchange between stations

Stansted
Express trains run every 15 minutes to Liverpool Street Station. Nearly
all trains top at Tottenham Hale, connecting with the London Underground.

National Express trains run an off peak stopping train along the same
line used as the Stansted Express as far as Stratford, where it forks
off to Stratford. Trains are hourly, Monday to Saturday.
A broadly hourly service to Birmingham, with interchange stops at
Cambridge, Peterborough & Leicester. Most Midland and North cities
can be reached by interchanging at Birmingham, Leicester or Peterborough.

From Stansted the key hubs are Bishop Stortford, Cambridge and Colchester.
The Cross Country Trains service to Cambridge provides an hourly service.
Use the Stansted Express for Bishops Stortford and a bus
shuttle to Colchester.
